Resus Rangers will join Teachers Talk Radio on 30th April at 7.30pm



On Tuesday 30th April at 7.30pm Resus Rangers will be joining Teachers Talk Radio

@TTRadioOfficial live to discuss teaching first aid to meet PSHE National Curriculum requirements.


Resus Rangers, Programme Manager Stephen Clifford-Franklin will be joined by Teachers Talk Radio Host Hannah Wilson: Hannah Wilson | Teachers Talk Radio (ttradio.org) to discuss the following points;


  • what the department for education RSHE statutory guidance document says about first aid and what it means to schools/how it affects schools.

  • why first aid is now on the national curriculum PSHE in England and the curriculum of excellence in Scotland.

  • what key knowledge, skills and resources teachers need to deliver first aid lessons, and how teachers can feel more confident about teaching basic first aid lessons.

  • how teachers can get children engaged in first aid lessons and ensure lessons are as effective as possible.

  • what teachers should be aware of before delivering these lessons to pupils.

  • how outside organisations can help deliver and support first aid lessons.


FREE First Aid Lesson for all listeners


We would like to offer all listeners a FREE First Aid Lesson for Key Stage 1, 2 and 3!


Key Stage 1 and 2:

These lessons are taken from our digital Teacher-Led First Aid Resource programme and include the following:


Key Stage 1: Topic 1 - Recognising Dangers in the Home and Playground


- The digital lesson will take between 30-40 minutes, and by the end of the first topic, the pupils will be able to; correctly identify hazards in the home and playground, describe what injuries may occur from these objects, and identify ways to avoid injury.


Key Stage 2: Topic 1 - Types of Poisons and Burns in the Kitchen and at Home


- The digital lesson will take between 40-60 minutes, and by the end of the first topic, the pupils will be able to; correctly identify hazards in the kitchen, distinguish the different types of burns, gain knowledge on what to do if you or another person have been burnt, identify different poisons in the home, recognise the safest place to keep poisonous products and understand the different ways that poisons can enter the body.


Key Stage 3:

The lesson is taken from our full Resus Responders digital Teacher-Led First Aid Resource programme created specifically for Key Stage 3 & Key Stage 4, and includes the following:


Topic 1 - 'Unconsciousness' covering Primary Survey (DRABC), Calling for Help, and the Recovery Position Method.


- The digital lesson will take between 40-50 minutes, and by the end of the first topic, the pupils will be able to;


• Understand and perform the Primary Survey.

• Recognise the importance of calling the emergency medical services.

• Understand how and when to use the Recovery Position.


The resources included: activity sheets, answer key, lesson plan, presentation, user guide, and pupil certification.
